SWTOR pre orders now available, system spec requirements

The pre-order details for Star Wars The Old Republic are out now!

Play Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ and explore an age thousands of years before the rise of Darth Vader when war between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire divides the galaxy. Team up with other players to battle enemies in dynamic Star Wars™ combat and overcome incredible challenges.
The order in which you redeem your Pre-order Code is the order in which you will gain Early Game Access before the game’s official release. So don’t wait and pre-order now!

So by pre-ordering you get early access, plus a crystal to change the colour of a light saber. The characters made on the early access are NOT deleted at the end of early access, and continue through to the live game.

If you fancy splashing some cash on the Collector's Edition, you get unique in game stuff, a book, a statue and a music CD, among other things.

The cheapest I've found the standard edition is on Amazon, for 35 quid.  Forget that, Amazon just put their price up to 39.99 UK pounds just the same as Game and Play. Seems there is no competition on price here. The Collector's Edition is quite a bit more expensive, Game have it for 130 UK pounds. Which is a whole lot of money. There are more details on their pre-order FAQ.

Other things come to light are their minimum specs:
Processor:
  • AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4000+ or better
  • Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.0GHz or better
Operating System:
  • Windows XP or later
RAM:
  • Windows XP: 1.5GB RAM
  • Windows Vista and Windows 7: 2GB RAM
  • Note: PCs using a built-in graphical chipset are recommended to have 2GB of RAM.
Video Card:
Star Wars: The Old Republic requires a video card that has a minimum of 256MB of on-board RAM as well as support for Shader 3.0 or better. Examples include:
  • ATI X1800 or better
  • nVidia 7800 or better
  • Intel 4100 Integrated Graphics or better
DVD-ROM drive - 8x speed or better (required for installation from physical editions only)
Internet connection required to play.
So my system meets the minimum spec (actually it is at the minimum spec). Hurrah.

Let's hope there is more information revealed during the San Diego Comic Con.
